1 November 2023, Sydney: AI startup, SourseAI, has chosen Berkeley Communications Australia as its comms partner to help drive growth globally.

SourseAI is one of Australia’s hottest startups, having just secured $3 million in Series A funding for its AI-powered decision intelligence platform which helps telcos analyse data and model business decisions to win and retain customers.

The startup has worked with Berkeley Communications on a bespoke corporate narrative program, after attending the PR firm’s Storytelling Academy workshop in May. It appointed Berkeley on a retained basis for its storytelling approach to PR and corporate communications.

Tanya Hyams-Young, co-founder and CEO of SourseAI comments: “Bringing in Berkeley has come at a really important time for our business as we look to raise our profile and fuel growth domestically and overseas.

“We’re really selective about who we work with. We needed someone who understood our space, but also help push us to carefully articulate our corporate communications and position us for growth.  We’ve been really impressed with Berkeley’s storytelling approach and how they craft stories on our behalf.

“Berkeley joins a really fantastic and high performing set of partners that supplement our work. We are as selective about our choice of partners as we are with hiring for our own team. Berkeley take the work we do and amplify our message – if they weren’t expert, collaborative and visionary we would find it hard to trust them to do this.”

This appointment caps an important phase of momentum for Berkeley, the UK-founded agency, which launched its Australian operations earlier in the year.

Following local client wins, increased demand for its Storytelling Academy Workshops and portfolio growth from within the global Berkeley Communications network, the firm has appointed Mitchell Fox as Group Account Director to oversee client outputs and drive further growth. Fox brings 15 years agency experience, having begun his career in Canberra and recently returning after a decade in London.

Povel Torudd, Berkeley Communications Australia’s Managing Director comments: “It’s really exciting to work with SourseAI. Not just because it’s a brilliant startup doing innovative things in the tech and telco sector, but because it builds on momentum and growth for Berkeley’s Australian business.

“We’ve seen great demand for our Storytelling workshops, helping Australian firms adopt a more engaging, narrative-led approach to their corporate communications. That’s enabled us to bring on our first senior Australian employee. Mitch brings a great deal of senior agency experience, which will help us establish best practice culture and processes. He’ll also oversee client outputs to instil our storytelling approach to PR and corporate communications.

“We’re building momentum with some exciting projects in the pipeline, so we can hit the ground running in 2024 and continue to grow.”

Mitchell Fox, Group Account Director for Berkeley Communications Australia comments: “Having spent the past 10 years working in one of the most competitive brand and media markets, I am excited to apply my experience to corporate comms here in Australia.

“I was familiar with Berkeley and its great work, from my time in the UK, often coming up against them in pitches and at awards ceremonies. Having moved back home, I jumped at the opportunity to join Povel to take Berkeley’s well established brand and build its Australian business. I’m really excited to work closely with Povel to create an agency culture we can be proud of, while delivering interesting stories and great results for clients.”
